Columbia Holiday Soirée: What to expect

What: Columbia Holiday Soirée: A Mad Men Era Vintage Costume Ball
When: Saturday, December 16thDoors at 7:00 p.m., show at 8:00 p.m.
Where: The Blue Note
Tickets: $20 General Admission | Ages 21+
Featuring: Amalgamation Jazz Orchestra and DJ Jen Ha playing ’60s era hits!

Word on 9th Street is that the holidays are here, so it’s time to celebrate! At The Blue Note, we do it big. We roll out the red carpet, pour lavish cocktails, strike up the jazz band, serve exquisite hors d’oeuvres, decorate for Christmas, lay the white linen tablecloths and dress to the vintage nines so that we may strike a pose at the photobooth.

We swing, we shimmy, and get down to vintage hits that never went out of style.
I guess you could say we’re the cat’s meow.

Our annual event was originally inspired by the style and sophistication of the ’60s and the AMC television series, Mad Men. Although the show and era have ended, this spirit lives on through the hottest vintage holiday soirée in Columbia.

We want you and your in-crowd to join us for a night to remember. Invite your friends, freshen up on your dance moves and get ready! Not sure what to wear? Stop by Muse Clothing. They’re prepared to help you dress to impress. We’ll also have a coat check ready upon your arrival.

2nd Annual Mad Men Holiday Soireé

Where: The Blue Note

When: Saturday, Dec. 10. Doors at 7 p.m.

Tickets: $20 // $15 for students with ID

It’s called the most wonderful time of the year for a reason and it’s here. It’s the time of the year when you get to attend fancy parties where you’re served suave cocktails and delicious hors d’oeuvres.

It’s only fitting that The Blue Note is hosting the 2nd Annual Mad Men Holiday Soireé, a.k.a., the most glamorous and exclusive holiday party of the year. And you, my friends, are cordially invited to attend.

With old-fashioned drinks and swinging dance moves, last year’s guests showed us just how dapper the 60s could be. It was so much fun and it’s only going to be better this year. Don’t believe me? Here’s a few reasons why this night truly throws any other holiday party out of the water.

1. It’s not just a party, it’s a soireé — the luxurious version of your average party. *Cheers*

2. There’s a theme.

The idea: It’s the year 1967, you work for Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, and this is your annual office holiday party.

3. You get to dress to impress.

If there is ever a right time in life to be classy AF, this is it. Rather than a typical everyday outfit of leggings or jeans, the event encourages guests to muster up their best 60s vintage to show off. Oh, and did I mention that the most dapper, classy, and best dressed person there wins a Bottle of Wild Turkey Russell’s Reserve 6 Year?

4. Live jazz music.

Yes, of course, there will be live music. Jazz music to be specific. Amalgamation, an incredibly talented orchestra, brings jazz music to life through their smooth, soul-touching sounds. Check them out and practice your moves before the event.

Aside from lavish drinks, 60s attire, and an overall jazzy mood, there will also be a fashion show put on by Muse Clothing and Maude Vintage to show off all the different styles from the decade. If that doesn’t put a cherry on top of the evening, I don’t know what will.

Now go grab your besties, your gent or lady, or even the cute barista from the local coffee shop and start the holiday season off right. I’ll be seeing you tonight in your swankiest attire.
